When it comes to issues of freedom and equality, the Bible doesn’t fool around. Scripture makes no allowance for oppression and injustice and neither should we. Christ’s blood was sacrificially shed to ensure that all who so choose can live a life of blessing and abundance. But how do we deal with those in our day who feel as though the laws of the land don’t fully reflect the law of Christ? How do we help those who feel overlooked and left behind? The Body of Christ has the responsibility to be on the right side of God’s Word (and the right side of history) as we proclaim deliverance to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom to the oppressed. We won’t stop reaching out with God’s love until every one among us lives in one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.
